Sacred Spaces - work in progress

two out of three

These woven sculptures are an ongoing experiment to create an environment of wonder in which to contemplate. Each sculpture contains a pool of water which is used to humidify the sawdust inside.

The sawdust is impregnated with mushroom cultures that burst out of the weaving under the right seasonal conditions. The sculptures will be arranged to form their own "fairy ring". The third, three-pool sculpture is in progress.

Also underway is the culture of Panellus stipticus, a fungus native to North American climes - particularly in the East. It is a source of the legendary "Foxfire", a cause of wonder throughout the ages. These cultures will be combined with the sculptural weaving to provide illuminations.
